Cultural Policy Candidate Questionnaires

In 2017, New Orleans held elections for Mayor and all City Council seats.  Usually in local elections, cultural issues are barely discussed.  To ensure this election was different, we worked with a group of traditional culture bearers, musicians, artists, and small business owners to develop a list of 12 cultural policy questions (13 for mayoral candidates) which were submitted to all City Council and Mayoral candidates.  Responses were then posted on our website, with links sent out via social media and our listserve so voters could have a better understanding about where each candidate stood on a variety of cultural policy issues before making their decision.
